Create A New Scene
Creating a scene in CloudNovel is very easy!
- First of all, open your project and make sure you are in the scene maps.
- Click Add Scenes button.
- A form box will appear.
- Name your scene.
- Click Create.
- Wait, until a box with the name of your scene appears on the scene map.
- Check on your right Scenes panel, make sure your recently created scene is listed there.
- And with that, you have successfully created a new scene. Repeat however many scenes you needed. There is NO LIMIT on how many scenes you can create.
If you already have a scene and you want to copy it, all you have to do is follow the steps below.
Copying a scene
- Click Add Scenes button.
- Name your scene. Do not click Create yet.
- Look below description, there should be a dropdown button. Click on it.
- Choose the scene you wish to copy.
- Check if you are choosing the correct scene to copy.
- Click Create. Wait until the scene appears on the scene map and under the Scenes panel.
Copying a scene can be really useful if you do not want to redo a whole scene or you want a backup. The copied scene, however, is not a reflection of the original scene. Therefore, any changes you made to a copied scene after it is created will not appear in the original scene and vice versa.
Connect Two or More Scenes using Branch
Creating a branch between scenes is very important. A scene can only proceed to another scene only if you have branched them together.
Imagine a scene is like an island. If you want your player to travel from Scene A to Scene B, you need to create a bridge that will connect these two scenes together. A branch works exactly like that.
Connecting scenes using a branch is really easy.
- Click on the scene of your choice.
- A new panel called Branches will appear on the left of your screen. Click Add Branch in the panel.
- And a red directional arrow following your cursor will appear right after you click on Add Branch button.
- Next, direct the arrow to the other scene you want to connect and click on it.
- Once the red arrow turns to a white straight line, it means that your scenes are connected.
- To double-check, you may look at the Branches panel and see if they are connected.
A branch is one-directional only. So, if you connect Scene A to Scene B, Scene A can go to Scene B but Scene B cannot go to Scene A.
You can click on the scene and look under Branches panel to see which scene that the clicked scene can go.
If you want Scene B to go to Scene A as well, all you have to do is click on Scene B and add a branch to Scene A.
Extra tips!
For faster branching, you can right-click on Scene A and click on Scene B. This will quickly create a branch from Scene A to Scene B without the need to click Add Branch button.
