Fusegene
(No current logo)

Fusegene is a game that was inspired by both Danganronpa and Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney. Here are a few things about it.

Description:
Fusegene is a visual novel that attempts to be its own game while also trying to stay within the lines of a visual novel. It's development began on 5/23/2019 and ended on (date). It has little 'trials' similar to both of the games it was inspired by that reveal the true criminal of the crime. These crimes almost always include murder, purposefully or accidentally.
The main character, Kojima Tarozaemon, is a young male who came to the school just to learn. Nothing special, he's only really skilled in writing.
There's a twist at the end and many dangers to overcome. You defuse situations, help find the answers to trials, and more.

Introduction:
Welcome to the world of Fusegene! Your name is Kojima Tarozaemon and you've just signed up to attend classes at Summer Lions Academy. You were one of the 25 students to be accepted into the place. When you arrived, you immediately notice something was off. The school looked old but also new at the same time. The school was 42 years old and many classes were held here. Back to being accepted, the 25 students were only accepted for a 'trial' period. After which, they had to pay to continue their education at Summer Lions or they could leave, but you can not leave during the period.
On the second day, something horrible happened.

Features:
  •  Trials; Find the person who committed the crime.
  • Defuse Situations; When a character gets too stressed, they can act out. These situations are usually dangerous and need to be defused. You're the perfect person for the job!
  • Minigames!
  • More!; I can't think of anything else I'll add right now.

Ending:
The ending will be decided by your actions. If the returning student is not found, (they're the evil one!) then they will reveal themselves. Than, you have to do a decently hard minigame to decide if they are eliminated or not. If they aren't successfully eliminated, GAME OVER! If they are, you win!

Release:
This won't come out for a while. I still need a lot of help doing it; Assets, GUI, and the minigames. I am trying to recruit people in the recruit area of the forum but I've only gotten a beta tester so far. I will use placeholder sprites as I go along to indicate a sprite has to be there since I have to focus on the development of the game.

Resources:
0 sprites finished, 0 sketches, 0 in process
0 scenes finished, 0 in process, 0 being reworked
0 minigames done, 0 in process
0 trials done, 0 in process

Stick around for the release <3

I mean it's not exactly great, I get an idea, I start it, I lose motivation, it sits there, I get motivation, I start it, I get an idea... it goes on and on. I'm trying to do them all but with three big games (Fusegene, Mage's Quest and Depths of Space) I can't finish them all lol.

Please do finish them...
UPDATE
I'm changing the true evil person from the "returning student" to the "overseer" for this reason:

Since I can't work on it, I've been thinking of ideas for Fusegene. One of these ideas is that the returning student can help people get around. So I wanted to change the main antagonist from it. However, the returning student can still be the overseer. There can also be more then 1 returning student, but only 4 at the max.
UPDATE:
I will begin writing the story of Fusegene. During this time, I will make "placeholder" art and backgrounds to tune my skills to the "anime" style I want to achieve for the game. What I will do is I will release a "demo" - a short, cut version of Chapter 1.

Speaking of Chapters, here's my concept for them:
A chapter consists of 1 week. Every chapter, 1 or more person dies. Only 1 person will be punished. Accomplices are only punished if they do not admit to their crimes during the trial, but it takes an extra day for them to be punished if that does happen. If there is a tie in votes, both will be punished with no delay. (I know, unfair, but this is a game of murder - barely anything will be 'fair'.) During a chapter, you can murder a person (this will be one of the last features to be implemented, by the way, since it will be the most complex with me having to write entirely new scenes and new dialogue and even new trials + minigames, so it won't be happening anytime soon.) only BEFORE another character does. If you murder someone in every chapter, at the end of the game, you'll get a trophy. Same for being peaceful and never hurting a soul.

In each chapter, you have only a certain amount of days to do special activities with certain characters. In a few chapters, activities or even dialogue/improving relations can lock forever or temporarily. This only happens to characters that:
  • Go Crazy/Insane
  • Are murdered or punished
  • Are missing and location is not known
  • Low, unsalvageable relationship meters.
  • They no longer trust the MC
By the way, the MC instantly has a somewhat bad relationship with some characters since they're very pushy and somewhat bossy.
Also, I changed the setup of the game: The MC will be a girl instead since it's easier for me to relate to.

There will be little to no sprites for characters. I will end the demo right before the first death. I don't know what the demo will contain. For now, I am working on it. I'll begin working on the demo! ^^~

i'm a bit confused with the rules of the trial, but i'll be looking forward to it. the accomplice thing sounds interesting, i'm curious to see how you'll pull it off
UPDATE:
New planned features/items-

Item: "Death Flag"
The Death Flag item gives you one hint towards actions, development, etc. etc. of a character that indicates they may be the next to bite the dust. The character who raises the most death flags is the one most likely to die, so make sure to stock up!

Item: "Life Flag"
On the flipside, the Life Flag item gives you possible indications that a character will live through the chapter - some even through to the end of the game! However, a character can still raise a death flag if they've already raised a life one, and sometimes it's a false indication.... but this goes similarly to the death flag, so don't worry!

Feature: Panic!
The "Panic!" Feature happens during a trial. It is when 3 or more characters either defend or prosecute others. From chapters 4 and up, a Panic! can also include heated debates, which are talked about more later.

Feature: Heated Debates
Heated Debates happen during a normal trial, a Panic!, prosecutions, etc. etc. Basically any part of a trial. These usually happen from Chapter 2+ in the normal trials but only happen after Chapter 4 during a Panic!. Heated Debates get in the way of finding the culprit and figuring out the crime. When these happen, an indicator or "bar" will appear that calculates your attention. It will tell you if your focus is on the Trial or on the Debate. If you get dragged into a Heated Debate, a character will try to drag you out, but this character changes through Chapters 1-5 before staying the same, so some shy characters may be the one to try and drag you out. This is why the indicator is important. After all, your main goal in the Trial is to find the Culprit.

That's all for now! I'm just brainstorming right now since I can't really accomplish anything w/o art so. Here ya go!

sounds cool! i'm really curious to see how you'll make it work, it sounds complicated
I forgot!
I'm also changing the thing about Accomplices: even if they do not admit, they will not be punished, since they did not commit the crime and "accidental" accomplices can occur. (Example: A character invents something they think would be useful, but a culprit uses it as a weapon. That's an accidental assist.)

HOWEVER, IF a chapter has more then 1 culprit, only ONE of them will be found guilty.
