It is my first time having to make my own sprites for a vn; what would experienced artists recommend? I need something free. Thank you!

You can use doll customizers/character creaters to make sprites. You can also draw them yourself if you want to.
@HorseyGator I’ve actually just been using ibs paint and a base. Then whent its in my phone I add it to a google slide show, And save to keep. That’s how I get the sprites in the game.
@princesskittynyanya That works too!
I recommend PHOTOSHOP!

Oh, ok!
I have been using SAI for a long time, but Krita works... or Gimp which is like a free Photoshop...
I recommend you buy a tablet first, a cheap Wacom, and use SAI.
But if you work with Lineart or Vectors... different names on different software you can do something like this with a mouse...
You get smooth lines even without a tablet since you control the shape and pressure of each dot.

Keep at it though, artists are expensive and not everything will be like you want it at the end.
I hope it helps others.
