The thread I'll be using to post updates on and discuss my novel, Heartstrings. For the most part this thread serves only the purpose of updating on progress, but feel free to ask questions about the project here as well. Can't promise I'll see them but if I do, I'll try to answer haha.

To start off, I spent two or so hours last night working on images for it. I wish I did more seeing as I couldn't sleep though, haha. Below is the main menu background as proof of the project being started c:

I have some of the bgs and gui made now, but sprites are still a concern. Most characters are in the concept art phase, I hope to have at least one sprite for each by the end of the day as well as some objects, the introduction with the name and pronouns selection, all of that! This project is purely for fun, so I'm not sure how long this level of productivity will last, haha, but It's nice to feel like I'm actually completeing something for once.

Bam, pronouns! I may add one or two more sets of neopronouns. I want this game to be as trans-friendly and inclusive as possible!

The sprites have been made for the protagonist. They have eight in total, with more to likely come in the future. This game is gonna be HUGE! :D I also added a custom pronouns option so people who use different pronouns than those listed can feel comfortable playing the game. The protagonist was purposefully made androgynous for the sake of being friendly to all players as well.

I have completed the art for the first scene. I hope to have several drawn moments like this, as more can be conveyed through these than just with a background and a character still. I want to change the font once I figure out how to do so (if I can do so), and am working on a new textbox as well as symbols for the options. Honestly working on all of this has been way more time consuming than I thought it'd be, plus I haven't been feeling too great today. I'm still happy with the productivity I've had today, though. If I can keep this up, I should have a demo published by the end of summer vacation. Also please ignore the random line, that has been removed. I made a mistake while creating the light from the screen and made a mark across the canvas haha, it was an easy fix.

I updated the textbox and choice boxes. I also added some bgm, and plan on purchasing more. If you have any music you just uploaded to the resources gallery, lemme know. I'm looking for all kinds tbh. Right now I only have three songs. I created the main menu, and created a credits screen. Estella has had 10 sprites drawn and uploaded. Also for those wondering, the mouse shown is not part of the game, but if it is possible to add a custom mouse, I'll definitely make a similar one to fit the aesthetic.

I came up with more lore and story ideas for Heartstrings today. It really went from "furry dating sim" to "twisted dystopia" real fast haha! I will sell the character design sprites I don't plan on using. Here is a preview of the main menu + credits screen (which I'm way too proud of haha): CLICK ME FOR THE VIDEO!

Today's work has been minor due to feeling sick all day. I received $6 from adopt sales, so I purchased 1,000 points and upgraded the project to premium, which will make things a whole lot easier for me uploading files and whatnot. Plus, animations can now be uploaded as videos rather than having to upload each individual frame to the project. I wrote a bit more as well, and reuploaded all the files. I am currently working on more character sprites.

I didn't get much done today, got distracted due to a call with my girlfriend. Added some more scenes and worked on Chapter 1 Part 1. I didn't want to ruin my streak of working on it daily. Some progress is still progress! I'll likely be making way more scenes and branches for chapter two, but chapter one will be pretty straight forward with few huge decisions as a demo (although don't get me wrong, some choices here WILL put you on a set path that can go wonderfully or horribly for the protagonist and their friends). Most of the things in chapter one are just to set the mood and establish some minor world building as well as the introduction of characters that will become major later on.
