Hey everybody, it's your one and only Princess! Thanks to our wonderful wizard @MidZM, we have quite a few new features this month, to both the CloudNovel visual novel game engine and the CloudAvatar dress up game engine

The beginning of this month, we also released Café Rouge, our first commercial game on both Steam and CloudNovel. Thanks to all of you, it was a huge success and we got tons of comments from old and new fans of the game. People loved it, and we are humbled that you all enjoyed the game so much that many of you called it a "great" game or "masterpiece" story, we are truly humbled!

With that said, let's recap what we've added this month:

Week 1

This week, we finally have the ability to customize back logs:

We have better control of scrolling now thanks to this special feature!

Week 2

We didn't do anything major this week, other than fixing bugs. However, the staff and I did get together and we are working on CloudAvatar engine work. Yes, on that dress up game engine we launched in 2017 and never updated.

Yep.

I also went ahead and published a blog post on how to release a game on Steam, from my own experience and on all phases of releasing a game onto Steam. Read here if you are interested: https://blog.cloudnovel.net/2020/07/11/how-to-make-a-game-on-steam/
And if you haven't already, make sure to check out Empress @DAX's newest video tutorial on how to create a music library for your visual novel game:

Week 3

1. Flag Maths

You can now multiply and divide integers now!

2. History Icons

You can now look at your history with special icons next to your recent history!

3. New Save/Load Screens!

Week 4

1. Bulk upload
You can now bulk upload files to your CloudAvatar library, that's right, no more manually uploading one file at a time, you can just multi select infinite number of files and it will upload it all in one go!

2. Cross origin setting

You can now manually set yourself whether you want to use cross origin option to load your dress up game. Enabling cross origin means your players can save images of the avatar/character they created, but this has been turned off by default so when people can upgrade their free version of the game to a premium dress up game, their dress up game won't break.

3. Publishing/updating game options

You can now choose how you want to publish your game, just like visual novel game updates. You can choose to turn off sending a notification to your subscribers, or don't publish an update at all and just make changes to the game.

4. Web link option for assets

In premium dress up games, you can now choose to set a 3rd party hosting link instead of uploading your assets. Before in premium dress up game, you can only upload directly to CloudAvatar. Now you can choose to use either an external file link or upload directly to your cloud storage inside your game library.

5. Folders now available

You can now create folders to organize all your assets in your dress up game's library. If you've noticed before, we didn't have the ability to create folders in the CloudAvatar library. Now it is available, to both free and premium dress up games :)

6. Ability to adjust X & Y axis, and scaling of avatar and its individual pieces

You can now move around the avatar, its pieces, and even adjust how big or small you want to make it and all of its pieces!

7. Watermarks

Custom watermarks are now available in both free and premium dress up games, so if you want to prevent art thieves from taking a screenshot of your art work, you can now place a custom watermark image in front of your game. Remember, you have to also turn it on in your visual novel settings tab.

8. Animated spritesheets bug
Animated spritesheets for pieces and image assets did not work, but we fixed this and now you can create animated images inside your CloudAvatar game (pieces and image assets have the spritesheet animation options).

Also, @MidZM, our genius wizard, has FINALLY finished a new screen loading feature in the CloudNovel visual novel game engine. So you know how the game loads all the screens all at the beginning of the visual novel game? Well this is no more, you can now specific screens to load only at a specific scene! That's right, no more long waiting time for the game to load if you made a bunch of screens.

Check it out:

We also released a statement regarding a fiasco about a bigger company in California making a statement about a climate change prevention stance on their company, and we decided to release a statement to clarify that we are not associated with any companies about anything related to climate change.

Here is our statement: https://blog.cloudnovel.net/2020/07/26/a-statement-from-sonya-ceo-of-cloudnovel/

We hope this clarifies and dispels any rumors about our relation to this bigger company, as we have no involvement to what videos they released on climate change, nor do we support it. We are completely neutral on the matter.

That is it for this month! Thanks for reading, and soon we will add even more upgrades to the CloudAvatar dress up game engine and minor requests people have been asking for in the CloudNovel visual novel game engine! Tootaloo!
