Only Ninja and Sakura members can post here

Hey all! Here's where I'll post my personal review for assets I've bought from various sites. I hope it helps, especially if you're considering buying one!

Tokudaya creates popular characters in modern day clothing. The first three 'volumes' are done in the same style; after that they experiment a bit.

Each pack comes in PSD, so make sure you have a program that can process that kind of file.

I've bought the first four packs, so let's get into it!

Volume 1:

This pack is labeled as 'geared towards women', so he's a bit of a handsome character. It was published in 2011, but some parts were renewed in 2018.

There isn't a specific count, but there are multiple styles of eyes and hair. For the eyes, each style has regular, closed, and wide/shock.

Hair can be mixed and matched with fronts/backs.

There are two poses, regular and arms crossed.

Accessories: Cuts/wounds, bandages, blush, dread, beauty marks/spots, glasses, sunglasses, masks, halo/devil horns + wings, headphones as well as clothing accessories such as neckties and bows.

Clothing: School/Academy, Chef, Waiter, Coat, Jumpsuit, Historical Japanese, Suit, T-shirts, Jeans, Gym Clothes/Track suit, Prince uniform, etc.

With all these options it's easy to make modern or historical/ old-timey type characters.

Pros:

 • Many pieces for mix-n-match options

 • Beautiful art style

 • Versatility (make virtually any kind of character)

 • Can make 100s of different expressions

 • Not too difficult to recolor pieces

 • Worth the price (About $10-12 USD)

Cons:

 • The PSD layers are written in Japanese, so finding a certain layer is really difficult. (Lots of scrolling back and forth)

 • There's just the one body type, so after awhile characters start to look a bit similar. You can combat this though by using the different eye shapes/sizes and of course hair

 • You may have to erase/trim some layers, such as a shirt pattern
All in all I'd give this pack a...
4 out of 5.

Volume 2
Volume 2 shares a lot of the same assets (clothes/hair) as the first volume.

This character pack's main standout is the body type: it's thinner, giving them a younger look. Totally suitable for the childhood friend, secondary love interest, younger brother, or NPC.

Personally, for me, there's something a tad off about this pack (maybe the head is too small?) to where I don't use it as often as the first.

The clothing, hair, eyes/etc is pretty much similar to the first. (and yes, I believe both packs have animal ears + tails!)

The pros and cons are also about the same...

So I rate this a...
3 out of 5. One less star because of it feeling 'off'. However, you might not feel the same way!

Next update will be Vol. 3 and A/B. Hope this has helped!

Volume 3 (aka Women's Volume 1)
Our first female pack! I actually quite enjoyed this pack, but I'll get into that later.

As you can probably already see, this pack features 3 females with 3 different body types.

First up is the more mature woman, having obvious curves.

Each pack has a few hairstyles and clothes, easy to edit.

Clothing is modern, though you could use the Yukata as historical if you needed/wanted to.

You have school, daily wear, work, and exercise clothes but also a swim suit and coat for the different seasons. Each character has the same type of clothes, but they differ between each other (see below)

Personally I think she's too mature looking to be a High School student, better suited for a woman in her 20's. You could use the uniform for a prestigious college, though.

Next up is the more cute/innocent girl. She could play an adult, but looks the most like a teenager. I feel she'd be perfect for playing the unsure heroine or an easily-flustered love interest.

As for clothing, her specific 'modern' outfit is either a sweater, blouse or beige dress.

And lastly, the third woman: the most 'average' seeming to me. Some of her outfits give the impression she could be more boy-ish, as well as seeming strong-willed. She looks like she could be a teenager or a young adult.

Pros:

 • 3 characters with different body types
 • Different outfits, including those for different seasons
 • Multiple hair styles
 • Easy to edit colors
 • Not as many files to search through
 • Versatile

Cons:

 • Not as many outfits or accessories as the previous volumes
 • Mainly suited for modern games
 • Not as customizable as previous volumes

With all things considered, I'd rate this a...
4 out of 5! This pack wasn't particularly lacking, except for having less clothing options. You can create a lot of different types of characters, and I especially love the different body types.
