Hi!
I am MelMel, but you can just call me Mel.

Under the encouragement of my sister and Fluffness. I decided to create this thread dedicated to my trip to Italy.

Which…

It's happening right now. At this very moment!

Though, this intro is not as colourful as the other threads in the forum, I will try my best to post picture and updates.

(This is for me to document this super last minute impulsive trip and see how it goes.)

The Arrival:
so… things weren't going well as planned.

Our flight got delayed 4 times. So it really pushed us to a tight schdule. We need to fly to Amsterdam then transfer to a flight to Rome.

Becuse the timings were pushed back, we became super stressed because out accommodation closes its check in at 12 am. We fear that once we landed in Rome, we wouldn't make it on time with so much delay.

The flight to Amsterdam wasn't comfortable and it was a very tense flight because, me and my sister kept check the landing time and caucalating the other timings.

So once we landed in Amsteedam, we rushed through the immigration and baggage check. Ran to the gate where the last batch of people were boarding the plane.

At this point it was 8:30pm and we took off about 10-to. We were super tried and the fact that we finally made it to Italy, we decided to pat ourselves on the back.

However…

Our luggage did not make it to the tranfer flight so they are still in Amsterdam somewhere. 😶😶

So we went to the hotel luggageless (we reported it ofc) and now here I am thinking about what did I just experience.

It was a chain of stress and tense situations. However, I am lucky enough to travel with my sister, at least we have each other's backs or I'll bawl my eyes out.

I am writing this 5 to 1 am EST. I need some sleep.
Thank you for hearing me ramble about this half awake. Idk if I made any mistakes. O well.

Good night!

Edited: June 14th.

Day 1:
Today, we decided to take it easy and walk around with only a few destinations in mind. It was super hot but it was still good.

Today, we felt a little better from the events of last night but visiting the sights in Rome really helped us put our minds at rest.

I am really happy that we are able to go to a lot of places in just one day.
As Fluff has requested, more Photos.

So far a good day! See you tomorrow!

Day 2:

Today we went to the Vatican city. I was every excited because I really want to see the St. Peter Church and the Sistine Chapel.

It was super super hot today. The sun was very unforgiving. We arrived to the Vatican city and took lots of photos of the Piazza because we know there will be a lot more people during the afternoon.

I was very happy to know that you don't need to pay to get in the basilica. Let me tell you, girl……

It's huge!

My ultimate goal was to see Michelangelo's Pièta. And I did! It's so beautiful but smaller than I thought. There are other wonderful works of art too (this just brings out the art history fangirl in me) such as Raphael and Bernini.

After that, we went see the Sistine Chapel. We bought fast pass tickets so we skipped a super long line of tourist but the walk was painfully hot.
When we got in, we thought we can just go into the Chapel, but no. The Chapel was a part of the Vatican Museum. So it was a long journey inside the museum to get to the Sistine Chapel. At one point me and my sister almost had a panic attack because there were so many people. We all are trapped in a small room and it was quite claustrophobic and hot.
However, I did get to see the Stranza di Rafaello. Which is the four walled frescos painted by Raphael. In the end, we did get to the Sistine Chapel and looked at Michelangelo's Last Judgment and the Genesis (ceiling). But I am not allowed to take photos. There was also Perugino's work too!

It took a while at the Vatican city. We planned to go to the Colosseum and the Roman ruins. However decided not too because the line to the tickets is too long and we are getting exhausted from the heat.

More photos!

So, tomorrow would be an interesting day because we are going to Naples. The city that invented Pizza (don't quote me on this).

Until then, Ciao~
