Um, how do I start...

So, hey, you can call me Bika.
Let me tell you my problem.
Well, basically I've started making a visual novel a couple days ago and as I kept thinking of my future plans regarding it, I began to feel a bit reluctant.
Here's why;
I'm only familiar with a tad bit more than the very basics, and taking this into consideration, I know I'm going to have to spend quite a long while learning it, which is why I'm here. I have no problem learning it, I'm just troubled by the fact that if I spend a lot of my time with learning everything and it ends up bad, it's just going to turn out to be a waste.
I wanna make this vn, but I don't know if people are actually interested and posting even this takes a lot of bravery from me. -.-
But anyways, let me tell you a bit about the story, since you can't make judgements without any information. :)
Apologies in advance, english is not my native language and summaries are my weak point. <:D
There're seven main characters to choose from, who are all a member of a merfolk tribe, clan, etc.
At one point in the beginning, these 7 characters will meet and depending on the player's choices, they form a group- not necessarily with all seven of them.
Each of these characters are different, and not just by race.
The player- after choosing a character- will continue with that character and depending on their choices they'll reach different endings.
The main focus various with choices, but it's either romantic based- with an undetermined number of love interests-, or just adventure based, in which case, the player will learn about the merfolk, humankind or maybe discover something... that could have a great impact on both species.
- Merfolk are unknown to humans and only mere luck led them to meet with a special bunch. -
Basically a fantasy adventure story about seven young-adult mer-people, who meet with humans, learn about both species' and maybe even experience romance. [It takes a lot from me to tell anything, while making sure to not say too much.]
I also have it in plan to make choices, like choosing your gender, pronouns, etc, etc. :3
Also, let me slap in some really rough and undefined sketches of a few of the main cast!
Sorry, my hands are shaky, so the pictures ended up being kinda blurry... not that drawing itself was that much clearer.
[I can only draw traditionally as of now, but hopefully I'll be able to afford a drawing tablet soon... er or later.]
As you can (hopefully) see, they're not from the same species.
Giant Pacific Octopus, Orca/Killer whale, Great White Shark and just a simple (generic) and pretty merman.
(Don't mind the first pic much, I was just seeing what kind of poses look good.)

PrincessI've moved your thread to chit chat forum as this is just an idea and no completed artwork. Please only post in the discuss your visual novel forum once you have at least a title and final artwork, that is in the actual game, to show.

Hey, if you ever need help with spelling or anything since English isn't your native language I can help; Proper spelling and sentence structure comes a long way into improving a VN :D
Plus I know how you feel about being anxious that people won't like your work but I really do think your idea is cool. Sorry about my rambling. I pretty lonely, can you tell? T-T

I've actually put the project on hold for a little while, since I unfortunately became sick (cold), then my family had to go into quarantine for a while, so I ended up missing a lot in school and I'm currently doing my best to make up for my lack of grades.
But when I can finally relax a bit and resume the VN, I might take you up on that offer. :3
I have a bunch of new ideas and (though not yet implemented) I've have enough things planned out. Just gotta draw. :,)
Btw, thank you for reassuring me! I'm happy to know that my idea isn't as awkward as I thought it to be.
