As you might have known, if you are publishing a game on this site, it will go through a screening that we will review your project and decide to approve it to be on the site publicly or disapprove it so it will remain unlisted. For your information, one of the reasons your project might get disapproved is that they may contain original copyrighted assets from the original source. We allow fanworks but only if it is not using the original assets from the original work.

However, recently, we discovered there was a trend of users using assets from art showcase sites, including but not limited to Deviantart and various other similar sites. The uploader of the assets from that site claimed that the assets are free to use but when we researched it - since our users used it and apply for their game to be on public -it turned out that the assets are the original assets from various Japanese games. There is no statement from the company that owned the copyright of the game saying they allowed the usage of their asset neither did the artist ever claimed their works to be free to use, whether it is for personal use or commercial use. 

Therefore, as we are very concerned about our users and we would like to lessen the potential of you getting in any trouble, especially regarding copyright materials, which can be very serious, we would like to take a portion of your time to remind you that if you are searching for Creative Commons assets to use in other external websites, please be careful especially if the uploader is not the copyright holder. If there is no reference to the real copyright holder's statement about the assets are free to use, please do your research before using it.

Most of the time, when the uploader said the assets are from a game, it is actually a rip-off from the game and should not be used in any circumstances.

There was also a case in the past which a user asked us if they could use original assets that have been published on community sites such as Wikia and there answer is no. No, you can't use them unless you have explicit permission from the game company. We know that you were confused because usually at the bottom of these community sites, there will be a disclaimer saying that the contents on the site are licensed with CC-BY-SA. Unfortunately, that does not refer to the images or assets copyrighted by the game company. The license only covered the content that was written on the site by the community and only that. Even if you edited the assets from the original work, it will not fall under the CC-BY-SA license as stated in the disclaimer of the sites.
