Preparing Your Assets Before Uploading

Before you can create a dress-up game, you need to make sure you have assets for the game. In this documentation, we will talk about how to prepare your assets before uploading them into our engine.

Separating Hair Segments

Hair is rather complex. Unlike other body parts, hair is very flexible and it can be both in the back of the body and in front of the body at the same time.

Therefore, it is very important to make sure that hair is drawn as two pieces instead of just one.

Group the hair segment based on its position, whether it is in front of the body or at the back of the body, and name it “Front Hair” and “Back Hair”

Front Hair                                                                                                                                                           Back Hair

This is a very crucial part of making your dress-up game a success! Because, if you only made them into one piece, your avatar will end up looking like this!

Right now, you may be wondering why would you do that? Can't you just cut out the part that is covering the body and clothes and put the hair in front of them?

Well, technically, you can do that ONLY IF you're planning to make a dress-up game with one pose AND one cloth only. It will not work if all of the said conditions are not met. Your dress-up game will fail such as the example below.

It may be a perfect fit for one cloth...

But it definitely is a complete failure for the other.

Do Not Crop the Image to Fit

When exporting your images that will be used as pieces for the dress-up game, it is important to make sure that you DO NOT crop the image to fit and delete the unnecessary empty space.

It is very important that all of your images are the same size.

This step is necessary because it will help the pieces to load in the correct position when in the engine. If you crop them, your dress-up game may load like this in the engine.

Exporting Your Image as Transparent PNG

Before you upload your images to the engine, please make sure that all images for your pieces are PNG with transparency.

JPG/JPEG format does not offer transparency and the same goes for PNG-8. Make sure it is at least PNG-24 with transparency enabled.

Once you've prepared your assets according to the above conditions, you're now ready to upload them to the library. See you on the next documentation page!
