This game jam is another one of the 4 seasonal game jams that the staff of CloudNovel hosts each season. This Jam, the Valentine Jam, is our fifth annual Spring/Valentines Jam.


The spring jam this year will be taking place during February 10th, 2022 thru March 31st, 2022.


You're already here! The jam will be hosted here on CloudNovel. To join, create a team for your project or join an existing team to participate in building a game project or drawing/design a character, background, object/item, GUI set, or composing a music/soundtrack or sound effect!
(If you're wondering where the 'join' button is, it won't appear until the game jam has started)


The goal of the jam is to make a game or create art/music around the theme of love or romance, or anything to do with Valentine's day!

Rules
You can enter the jam alone or as a team (please choose one member as a representative to enter the jam and make sure you add other teammates as collaborators). In the case of a team entry, the prize will be split among the members.

• You can enter an existing game or existing art/music/sound resource, but over 50% of the entry must be new and falls under the category of this game jam's theme of love/romance.
• Fangames or fanart aren’t considered as a valid entry. Your work must be original. No plagiarism especially art theft shall be tolerated.
• If you are entering a game, you can enter a demo of your game, but you won’t be able to receive the prize until you finish your game. Only finished games are eligible for final rankings.
• You have to publish your entry within the contest period. Once the time is over, we will decide how many points to give you based on what you have done until then. If your entry is a demo, you have to complete the game afterward (no time limit) to get the prize, but what you make after the contest period won’t add any extra points. Please refrain from updating your game after deadline until results are out.
• It must follow the rules to apply a visual novel as listed (rules here https://cloudnovel.net/forum/fluffness/rules/listing-guide)

And don't start your game project or your artwork/music entry before the Jam has officially begun.

Visual Novels’ Rules:

• Only English entries are considered as a valid entry.
• Entries must have more than 3000 words to be considered as valid entries. (Unless your games are not story-focused. Eg: pet simulator)
• You are allowed to use free assets for your entry, but you must credit their owner (make sure the resource can be used for commercial projects).
• The final version of your game must have at least around 30 mins of gameplay (otherwise you won’t receive the reward)

Dress Up Games’ Rules:

• The art must be original.
• The background and music can be free resources but they must be credited.

Art Submission Rules:

• The art or design must be original. Stock images are okay as long as you have full permission to use them.
• No tracing for artworks.

Music/Sound Submission Rules:

• The music/soundtrack or sound effects must be original.
• No remixes for soundtracks.

Prizes
All entries will be judged by Sonya based on effort. Depending on the entry you will be awarded 100 points to a maximum of 100,000 points!
